Embden, Drishaus & Epping Consulting GmbH (EDE Consulting) emerged in 1991 from a traditional Hamburg coffee trading house of the same name that was founded in 1808. Since then EDE has implemented over 50 projects. In 2005, EDE shares were transferred  to the foundation Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS). As EDE belongs to a foundation, any profits made are used to leverage funds for new development projects.

At EDE we strive to contribute to sustainable development of farming communities in developing countries. We do this by enabling smallholder farmers to improve their business performance and their market position. Farmer grouping, technical interventions, marketing activities and capacity building are important tools to achieve this.

Coffee is our passion, but we also apply our coffee exprience in other crops. We aim to be recognised as the service supplier of choice in innovative value chains.

Our network stretches from industry, importers, exporters and traders to development organisations and NGOs, enabling us to bring together the right combination of people, skills and resources to promote business-based rural development.
